Brett Shalders

Executive General Manager

Brett has 30 years’ experience in Power Generation, Oil and Gas Industry sectors having worked in Senior Engineering, Operations and Gas Trading Management roles for Contact Energy – NZ, Natural Gas Corporation –NZ, Vector – NZ, Enertrade, AGL/ Arrow – Moranbah Gas Joint Venture.

Brett established EIM’s Asset Management, Engineering and Operations capability in 2008 and has been instrumental in developing and executing EIM’s growth strategy as the senior EIM executive for the past 12 years providing asset M&A due diligence, asset management, engineering and operations services to the Queensland Oil and Gas Industry.

Brett holds a New Zealand Certificate in Engineering and Bachelor Of Mechanical Engineering and is a registered CPeng, Professional Engineer of Queensland in both Mechanical, Oil and Gas.

Matt is a trusted energy and resource industry professional with a reputation for integrity and performance.

A Mechanical Engineer, MBA qualified executive and Certified Practicing Project Director (CPPD), he has over 25 years’ experience in the engineering sector and has an outstanding track record of successfully developing and operating multiple simultaneous energy and resource industry work programs with financial accountability from small (<$5M) to moderately large (~$320M pa) executable budgets and studies focussing on developments and acquisition targets above $20bn.

His corporate experience spans the supply, contract and client side and includes capital project delivery for Arrow Energy, development of CSG operational and commercial capability for BHP’s Queensland coal business, the ground up development of new venture GD Energy Services and the development of EPC capability for GD Pipelines, Wasco Australia and now EIM. His list of 1st tier clients includes AGL, Alinta, Apache Energy, Arrow Energy, BHP, BP, EDL, Exxon, Origin Energy, Santos, Shell, South32, Westside and Woodside.

Matt has taken accountability for a complex array of State and National statutory safety regimes; both on and offshore. This has instilled in him a passion for safety leadership and a highly-evolved view on the effective deployment of systems, culture and leadership to attain the elusive goal of combined safety, productivity and schedule performance.

His unique skill set has evolved from a trade through to engineering and project management and culminating in general management and (project & executive) Director’s roles. This enables him to bring a dynamic blend of practicality, enthusiasm, technical aptitude and commercial acumen to interactions with the shareholders, clients, employees, suppliers and communities he serves.

Pipeline Manager

Laura has been with EIM since its inception and has been in the Pipeline industry for 14 years.

Laura started her career in Logistics Management with 10 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy. She joined Enertrade in 2005 and has transitioned with the Operations team into EIM and has been in her current role as Pipeline Manager for 6 years. Prior to this Laura was the Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance Manager.

Laura holds a Graduate Diploma in Logistics Management from ANU and a Masters Degree in Professional Accounting from JCU.

Financial Controller 

Appointed Financial Controller in 2018, Carly brings over 10 years of strong financial and commercial experience to the role.

As a member of the Leadership Team, Carly is responsible for the development and management of EIM’s financial and accounting functions, Human Resources, Quality, Procurement and the company secretary role.

Carly holds a Bachelor of Accounting/Business and has been a member CPA member since 2013.

System Operations Manager

Stephen McKenzie has been working with in the High Pressure Gas Transmission industry since he Graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Computer Systems) in 1997.

Working for 10 years on the Roma to Brisbane pipeline, Stephen was responsible for SCADA and System Administration, and Operations Support. Since then Stephen has taken those skills and led a series of Graduate Engineers through the System Operations aspects of Pipeline Management assisting and training them to become highly productive Pipeline and Project Engineers in their own right.

For EIM clients Stephen is Responsible for key aspects of Pipeline Operations including:

  • Emergency Response Management and Coordination
  • Pipeline Capacity Management ensuring that all customers are able to meet their energy needs with the fixed assets available.
  • Commercial aspects ensuring Contract Compliance, Statutory Compliance and Stakeholder Management are carefully committed.
  • Capacity Utilisation Records Management – eg, Management and production of Capacity Reports and the systems behind these reports
  • Stephen also brings leadership in the IT area of EIMs business with a core understanding of the technology required to run a lean but efficient business ensuring maximised performance of EIM for our clients trust.
