Safety and Compliance

Keeping the lines safeEIM

EIM's commitment to safety is embraced throughout the organisation from Senior Management to the Pipeline Operator. EIM is committed to providing a safe work environment for all parties involved in their operations; employees, contractors and visitors alike.

EIM staff are recruited with extensive Gas Industry experience and are provided ongoing training which ensures best practices are incorporated in our tasks at all times.

Energy Infrastructure Management (EIM) ensures compliance with Petroleum and Gas State legislation and adherence to the AS2885 Australian Code of Practice.

One of the areas EIM focuses on to maintain the integrity and safety of buried assets is landholder and stakeholder relationships. EIM has extensive programs in place to build and manage the relationships with the landholders; contractors who work in the area of operations; local councils and state government bodies as well as local community groups. These relationships ensure that the assets are clearly recognised and taken into consideration before any activities are undertaken in the area.

All assets are registered with the national 'Dial Before you Dig' services enabling anyone the ability to locate and identify buried infrastructure in the vicinity of their intended works before they commence digging. EIM have trained staff and systems that allow the timely response to all enquiries through the DBYD service.

Avoiding underground pipe and cable damage is as simple as having the right tools, the right skills and the right information.

Knowing where underground networks are buried before digging helps to protect you from injury, expense and criminal prosecution.

Our Field Personnel team monitors the state of the pipeline Right Of Way through regular patrols both overland and by air. These patrols identify and aim to resolve any developing issues including depth of cover irregularities; signage damage or weed growth. The integrity of the coating of the buried pipe is monitored through DCVG (Direct Current Voltage Gradient) surveys. The pipe internals are monitored and cleaned with devices known as "pigs", which are propelled through the pipeline via a pressure differential across them. Running pigs ensures the pipe internals are kept clear and free from contaminants.

To enable the pipeline to be monitored continuously EIM employ a customised and powerful Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System and practices. This system collects key pipeline telemetry to allow monitoring of key operating parameters such as gas pressures and temperatures, along with key flow data to track the energy that is shipped to customers from the gas fields.

Should the need arise;  EIM has the vehicles, trained and competent staff, specialist knowledge and tools/equipment to ensure a rapid response in an emergency, at any time.
